Heerman's Gull. Not only one of my favourite gulls in North America...but also enjoyed the habitat included within the shot.
Harbour Seal at rest on the rocks. Showed signs of some recent fights.
Japanese Grey Bunting (Female). Very few images of this species appear online, especially the females - making this capture quite unique.
Mudskipper: Fujimae Higata (They are completely amphibious fish, fish that can use their pectoral fins to walk on land).
Tufted Duck, rare in Ontario, but regularly seen along the coasts.
Critically Endangered Snail Kite: Lake Kissimmee
Black Skimmer: Quite amazing and unexpected to see a flock of 30 birds fly in and land at my feet. Photographically, perhaps not the most captivating image...but certainly an experience i won't soon forget.
A very large American Alligator posing nicely on the bank. A local remarked: "Did you see that 12 foot monster over there!?". This is a wild gator, in the wild.
My nemesis Kentucky Warbler - finally photographed in April 2012 - quite appropriately in Kentucky
Nothing can quite describe having a great gray owl fly at you and catch a vole 6ft away from you. This bird (or any other bird) was not baited. This is a wild vole about to be swallowed by a wild Great Gray Owl.
Thayer's Gull - right here at home in Waterloo. With frequent visits to the dump a number of wintering Thayer's Gulls were identified (easily as many as 8).
